Sinopsis
El músico Corey Harris es el vehículo conductor que nos cuenta un viaje a través del blues que nos lleva del Delta del Mississippi hasta Mali explorando las raíces de la música negra.
Incluye interpretaciones originales de John Lee Hooker, Son House, Taj Mahal, Otha Turner, Muddy Waters, Keb' Mo', Willie King, etc. del lado americano e intervenciones de músicos africanos Habib Koité, Salif Keita, Toumani Diabaté, y una magistral e inolvidable del tristemente desaparecido Ali Farka Touré que me he permitido extraer aquí y subtitularla para que pueda entenderse la dialéctica africana. Esto lo he comprobado en múltiples ocasiones en mis viajes a África cuando he pasado tardes enteras en los pequeños cobertizos construidos en el centro de todas las aldeas del continente, llamados “La Casa de la Palabra”, lugar de reunión para como su propio nombre indica pasar los días charlando, reunidos los hombres del poblado.
Scorsese nos cuenta: “Siempre he sentido una afinidad con la música de Blues — la cultura de las historias habladas es una música increíblemente fascinante y atractiva para mí. El Blues tiene una gran profundidad emocional y es la base de la música popular americana."
